MARY JO GRAHAM
Mary Jo Graham is a Painter, Writer and Author of When He Sends Redbirds: Walking Through Emotions as a Caregiver. She is a 1986 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Marketing. In June of 2012, I suddenly found myself in a caregiving role with my dad overnight. Due to an accident my mother had, I stepped into a caregiving role that was unfamiliar and unexpected. I realized that you can know someone all your life, but have no clue how to care for them physically, emotionally, and mentally. I also realized that caregiving stretches you in ways that you can’t prepare for a head of time. Emotions both good and bad come to the surface. Unanticipated challenges come at you left and right. Through journaling my emotions and thoughts, I received a lot of truth, peace and healing. I know that the caregiving experiences of others may be far more heartbreaking and difficult than mine, yet I suspect some of the emotions are similar. I wrote this book with the simple intent to share.
